You came here to rest, not to read fine print. So here is the short, honest version of what we do with what you tell us.
Who we are
U·Turn is a rest-and-renewal retreat on the coast of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, México (“U·Turn”, “we”, “us”). When you request a place, we — and no one else — are responsible for the information you share. You can reach us about anything in this notice by WhatsApp at +52 81 2602 1270.
What we collect
Only what you choose to give us when you fill in a form:
- Your name and email, so we can reply.
- The answers you write — how you are, what rest looks like, what’s been taking it out of you, and who referred you. You decide how much to share; the optional questions are genuinely optional.
We don't use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics on this site. We don't buy lists or collect anything about you from elsewhere. We do keep a simple, anonymous count of page views — which pages, roughly which country, on what kind of device — with no cookies and nothing that identifies you, only to understand our traffic. We honour your browser's Do-Not-Track setting.
The Check-In
The Check-In — your private burnout reading — is different, and stricter: it collects nothing. Every answer is scored on your own device, in your browser. Your responses and your scores are never sent to us, stored, or logged — we could not see them if we tried. It is a self-reflection, not a medical service: not a diagnosis, and not a HIPAA-covered medical record. We designed it to need no such protections, because the data never reaches us.
Some laws (such as the EU/UK GDPR) treat wellbeing answers as sensitive “special category” data. We avoid those obligations the simplest way there is: by never processing that data at all. The only moment anything could leave your device is if you explicitly choose to attach a short summary of your three scores to a request — and only then, with consent asked for in plain words at that step. If you don't, nothing leaves.
The Check-In is available in English, Spanish and Hindi, and shows crisis-support lines for your language and region (Mexico, the United States, or India) alongside an international directory.
Why we collect it
For one reason: to read your request, decide together whether U·Turn is right for you, and stay in touch about your place and your stay. We don't use your words for marketing, and we never sell or rent your information to anyone.
How we keep it
Your submission is stored in a private, access-controlled database (hosted on Supabase) and is readable only by the small U·Turn team through a password-protected back office. If we send you email, a trusted email provider delivers it on our behalf. These providers process your data only to run the service for us, under their own security commitments.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it (the ARCO rights under Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, LFPDPPP). Just message us at the WhatsApp number above and we'll take care of it — no forms, no friction.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. The version here is always the one that applies.
